Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon

Software Developer and Machine Learning Engineer (m/f/d)

New membranes and membrane processes for the separation of substances are being developed with experiments and simulations at the Institute of Membrane Research. In order to enhance the digital acquisition of metadata and documentation of research data, we are developing a web-based electronic lab notebook (ELN), Herbie. Accordingly, the evaluation of large experimental datasets from the ELN and other sources by means of machine learning has become increasingly important. We aim to uncover correlations between parameters and structures that remain hidden in individual experiments.

The goal of this position is establishing machine-learning-based data evaluation methods to advance the understanding of structure-property-performance-relationships of polymer membranes. A minor part of your work will be supporting the development of the ELN. We are looking for a software developer, data or computer scientist, physicist or engineer (MSc or PhD) (m/f/d) as soon as possible. This position is initially limited to two years with a high chance for extension, the place of work is the Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Geesthacht. There are options for further scientific qualification, e.g. pursuing a PhD. Part of the work can be conducted via home office. In principle, the advertised position can be filled on a part-time basis.

Equality of opportunity is an important part of our personnel policy. We would therefore strongly encourage qualified women to apply for the position.
